(Ózd, 1962) He finished his classical musical studies at the Faculty of Flute at the famous conservatory in Miskolc. Already at that time he had acquired interest in light music, especially in jazz that later became his vocation. Successful application to the Jazz Faculty of the Ferenc Liszt Musical Academy follows, where he graduates with excellent results. At this time he also attracted the attention of the rock society and from 1986 he became a member of Hungary's most popular rock band, Bikini. At the same time he also participated in different jazz groups as well. His professional prestige is supported by his position as a teacher at the Jazz Faculty between 1989 and 1991. In 1993-1994 he toured almost the whole of Europe with the world-famous Aldár Pege Group and he also reaches over the sea. From 1993 he was a member of Kálmán Oláh's sextet. Kálmán Oláh is one of the most remarkable personalities of Hungarian jazz. His band is famous for seeking new ways and for their experimenting spirit. Dénes Makovics was one of the dominant personalities in the band. In the meantime he took part in several pop and jazz recording sessions and have performed with almost all the Hungarian jazz musicians. World celebrities such as Tommy Víg, Jasper Vant-Hof, Lee Harper, Lee Konitz, George Jinda, Stanley Clarke and Steve Lukather liked going on stage with him. Currently he is the leading tenor-saxophonist of the BM Police Band, while he is also working with his own group and is a founding member of HSP.
